Frequently asked questions.

What is “Parts Work”?

Parts Work refers to the idea that we are not one solid block of a person, that instead we are all just 'multi-personality’ or that it is the nature of the mind to be subdivided. A part of me wants to go to take that trip to a certain location, but a part of me absolutely does not, as a basic example. Both parts exist simultaneously. Parts Work can use different therapy types (such as Internal Family Systems, founded by Richard Schwartz) or ‘ego states,’ among others.

Basically, you can expect this therapy to meet you where you’re at, accept you just as you are, help you heal the more extreme parts of yourself (ie anger, self-sabatoge, harmful habits, etc), to reveal a more whole, integrated self.

The parts themsevles do not ‘go away,’ but instead find a more functional, appropriate place within in ourselves.

What should I expect from a first therapy session?

At a first session, I will want to get to know you and learn what you may hope to get out of therapy or what changes you hope to see in your life?

Are there parts of you that are causing you problems? Are there ways you show up in life that are making you or others uncomfortable?

Learning what’s most important to you, allows us make good use of our time together.

How often do I need to come to therapy?

This really depends on your needs, preferences and speed at which you’re hoping to move through challenges.

Weekly, every-other-week or monthly are all options this practice can support.

Do you see couple’s?

At this time, I am not seeing couples.

Do you see kids?

I see kids 13 & up for whom telehealth is an ideal way to deliver therapy. The caregiver will have the best idea if this could be a good fit.

What is the cost? Do you take insurance?

The therapy hour is 50-55 minutes and is on a sliding scale of $120-155. At this time, I am not working with private health insurance companies. There are many reasons for this, and I can expand upon this in a consultation phone call, as needed.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes! Please reach out to me for a free 15 minute consultation phone call, by clicking here: Contact Me
